EVACUATION ACTIONS
A.  In the event of a wildfire, evacuees are asked to follow the checklists in the
Ready–Set–Go Wildland Fire Action guide and to secure their home in the
following manner time permitting:
  1. **Turn off gas and electric service to house
  2. Unlock doors/windows for fire personnel, but secure/hide valuables
  3.  Place fire gel, if available, outside home for fire personnel
  4.  Leave gates open for fire personnel
  5. **Tie a white towel/cloth to gate or house door thus indicating premises evacuated.
B.  Essentials recommended evacuees take with them (time permitting):
  1. Important documents–insurance papers,titles/deeds –consider scanning documents onto a flash drive
  2.  Medications
  3. Toiletries, sleeping bag/blankets
  4. Checkbook,credit cards,cash, passport, laptop, flash drives
  5. Change of clothes, flashlight/batteries, food
C.  Pets/Livestock
  • Be sure animals have identification
    1. Dogs/Cats–collars/tags with owner name and phone number
    2. Microchips
    3. Livestock–brands registered with Livestock Board; write owner phone number on hooves
    4. Transport house pets with a means of securing them, i.e. leashes, crates.
    5. Time permitting pack necessary medications and food.
