2020 Update from Firewise USA
(April 29,2020) Like all of you, we are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and trying to figure out what the new normal looks like. What we do know, is that wildfires will continue to happen and pose a threat to homes and communities regardless.
With that in mind, we want to thank you all for the work you do to keep your neighbors and community members engaged in preparing for wildfires. It is so important that people continue to do their annual spring-cleaning activities and actions that they can, while following local safety precautions.
While 2020 renewals are not due until November 20th – seven months away – we will be monitoring conditions and renewal submissions throughout the year to see if that date needs to be adjusted.
Even if a community chipper day is not possible for us this year, remember hours worked and money spent by individuals on their property count toward the whole community.
Firewise USA is using this year to really drive home the importance of work done around the home and in the 0-5-foot space. Science tells us there are a lot of simple tasks that make an impact on the chance of a home surviving a wildfire.
The form that we used to submit to Firewise USA has not changed for 2020 and is found in the drop down under Firewise.
